Biography

Driven by his passion for art, Joseph Uliano brings an added dimension as an Executive Producer / Creative Director from his individual experience in creative direction, filmmaking, fine art, advertising, music and immersive media.  Currently he is the founder and Executive Creative Director at Black Label Content.

Founded by Uliano, BLC is focused on”direct to brand” creative marketing and content for broadcast network and brand clients. BLC Recently completed their 6th Oscars campaign with the 2017 Oscars.  Recent awards – THE GOLD PROMAX BDA award for Best Event Campaign and Best Promo for Cinema, Best On Air Consumer Tie In/ Brand Integrated Campaign.    Latest works include the launch of NBC Sports “RIO OLYMPICS” , The 2016 ABC Upfront,  as well as numerous season launches of NASCAR, Dancing With The Stars, SCANDAL , TGIT, THE EMMYS and the AMA’s.  BLC  creative directed the 2016 ABC upfront, as well as Multiple upfront opening presentations for ABC.   Also The live integrated campaign for the MTV Awards, broadcast and cinema for LEVIS, Ralph Lauren, FANTA and the Budweiser “Anthem” series, as well as multiple global brand  launches for Mattel. 

Also Uliano’s work in the music industry and in integrated product placement there includes work with BEATS by DRE, Puma, Mercedes, Fiat, Apple, Coke, Nike and many many more.  

 

Music Content

From live concert events and documentaries to music video, Uliano has produced some of the most watched music television in the world.  He has worked with a wide array of talent such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Metallica,The Foo Fighters, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, U2, Lana Del Rey, Tim Mcgraw, David Guetta, Gwen Stefani, One Republic, and many many more.

 

Joseph has received  2 Grammy awards for Best Long-Form video & for Best Short Form video along with dozens of MTV awards.

 As an Executive Producer,  Uliano works with a legendary roster of directors  that include:  award winner Jesse Dylan, renowned filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, noted Director Mark Pellington, Award winner Sophie Muller, Oscar®-nominee David O. Russell, Oscar®-winning musician/composer/director Trent Reznor, Legendary director Wayne Isham,  Arni and Kinski, Kevin Kerslake, and Grammy and Emmy winner Thom Zimny.

 

TV

Uliano has also Executive produces television events such as, The ABC Fall Premiere, NBC’s primetime special event: “Fireflies: Faith Hill Live”, as well as Ron White’s,“Behavioral Problems” a one hour show for Comedy Central. He also Executive produced Metallica “ Live in Mexico City”, Muse in Madrid, Recent productions include “Live Event” television for Darius Rucker, Avril Lavigne’s “Best Damn Tour” Tenacious D’s “The Pick Of Destiny”. As a documentary producer, Uliano also received a Telly Award for Best Cultural Program and the AEGIS Best Documentary Award. 

 

ART

Uliano joined fine artist Francesco Vezzoli in the Italian Pavillion for the Venice Biennale to produce an installation called DEMOCRAZY.  The project features Sharon Stone and French philosopher Bernard-Henry Levy as U.S.  Presidential candidates.

He also produced a controversial art installation with Francesco Vezzoli that received worldwide acclaim during the previous Venice Biennale.  It was then invited for an extended run at the Whitney Biannual in NYC.  The piece is a remake of the 1970’s film “CALIGULA”.   Their update features Helen Mirren, Mila Jovovich, Benicio Del Toro, Gerard Butler, Courtney Love and many more.  It was costumed by Donatella Versace.

 

Uliano, along with artist fine Bill Barminski, also created a video/art project for Baz Lurhman’s “Something For Everybody”, which gained much notoriety and sold over 500,000 copies.

 

ACADEMICS

Uliano and artist Bill Barminski co-chaired and created a new concept class in the Graduate School of UCLA combining the film dept, design school, digital arts and architectural school, that brought to light new emerging creative digital environments and their commonality in the disciplines.

 

Uliano also was invited and sat on the development “Brain Trust” for Paul Allen’s “Experience Music Project” and was instrumental in helping to create and launch programs for the museum.

 

He received his MFA from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.

 

 

OTHER:

Uliano was also a co-owner of the Hollywood hotspot and eatery IL SOLE on Sunset Strip,  Picked as the “Oscars Hot Spot” by Good Morning America.

 

Joseph is married to Sophie Uliano and considers his greatest body of work to be his daughter Lola.

 

BACKGROUND

Joseph was formerly an executive producer at Crossroads FILMS, where he founded merge@crossroads, a Los Angeles, NYC and London based media and content company. Before joining CROSSROADS, Uliano was a Partner and executive producer of CRASH Films in Los Angeles.

 

Joseph’s background in media is composed of many facets, having been the Spokesman for The Office of The Governor of Florida and the energy and conservation lobbyist.   Joe is a Georgia native, a long time musician, a guitar collector, a photographer and an avid scuba diver.
